Chelmsford Competitive Festival of Music & Drama
The Festival began in 1961 with Sections for Piano, Strings, Recorders, Singing, Speech & Drama.

Today the Festival has sections for Piano, Strings, Classical Guitar, Brass, Woodwind, Recorders, Singing, Music Making, Chamber Music, Speech & Drama.

Anyone can enter the Festival as a competitor. We welcome entries from people of all ages & standards in music & drama.

In music, styles range from Baroque to Boogie and Jazz. In Speech & Drama we hear poems lasting 30 seconds, scenes from Shakespeare, and plays improvised during a tea break.

Our aim is to encourage the enjoyment & participation in music & drama and to raise standards using the help of professional adjudicators who are experts in their field of the Performing Arts.

The adjudicators will often demonstrate and give advice on improving presentation and performance.

The Chelmsford Competitive Festival of Music and Drama is affiliated to The British and International Federation of Festivals for Music, Dance and Speech of Which Her Majesty The Queen is Patron
