The above picture shows a Class 66 locomotive arriving at Chappel& Wakes Colne Station with a ballast train during the engineering blockade in 2006.
The Colchester Railway Forum is web-site is intended as a forum for anyone interested in railways, but principally is aimed at those with an interest in the topic based in and around the Colchester area. It is loosely based around the East Anglian Railway Museum at Chappel & Wakes Colne Station, which has its own website.(See links page.)
We apologise for a distinct lack of activity on this site in the recent past. It is hoped to do better in future.
Please note the 2009 meeting programme of the Colchester Railway Group has now been updated. This Group, whilst being under the auspices of the East Anglian Railway Museum, gratefully acknowledges the input from the Great Eastern Railway Society and members of the wider enthusiast community.
or at http://www.earm.co.uk
The Colchester Branch of the East Anglian Railway Museum exists to promote the Museum in the Colchester area. It also hosts an bi -monthly meeting programme and takes part in general fundraising activities. This includes running a second hand book and magazine shop at the Museum, known as The Curio Coach. Please visit the links page for details of these activities.
(The Branch meeting programme for 2009 is to be found on the appropriate page of this website.)
Bookings for the meeting programme for 2010 are now invited.
One important change from previous years is that we will now generally be meeting on the first Friday of the even month, rather than the odd months : ie the first meeting will be in February rather than January.
