Hello!
Oxfam Chelmsford is exactly what it says on the tin. This includes a campaigns group, two shops and as many publicity-gathering activities as our time allows.
We're a mixture of people - young & young-at-heart, students, profesionals, voluntary workers, political activists and not-so-politcal slightly less activists!
If you want to support Oxfam in a more active way than a monthly standing order, then get in touch - we'd love to hear from you. See the contacts page.
Cheers!

Want to help Make Poverty History?
Members of Oxfam Chelmsford campaigns group (hopefully joined by other local organisations supporting MPH) will be out on Chelmsford High Street on Saturday July 9th from 11am to 1pm and they’d like you to join in!
You might be handing out information cards to the public, manning the petition table, or helping to sell the hugely popular white MPH wristbands.
All you need is a friendly manner, be happy talking to the general public, and have a very basic understanding of the Make Poverty History campaign issues (trade justice, drop the debt, more and better aid). You don’t have to have an in-depth knowledge – campaigners will be on hand to answer any questions that arise.

Calling all schools and Fairtrade Fans!
FAIRTRADE AND SCHOOLS EVENING, 9 FEBRUARY 2005, 7.00 – 9.00PM, OXFAM BOOKSHOP, HIGH STREET, CHELMSFORD (OPP NATIONAL WESTMINSTER BANK).
We’d very much like to invite Chelmsford teachers and colleagues to meet and network with other practitioners involved with Fairtrade and development education in the Chelmsford area.
This will be a short, informal session to discuss ideas, investigate resource materials and meet Oxfam and other workers campaigning on Fairtrade and linked issues. We’ll also be looking at ways ahead for a possible Fairtrade schools group.
Marie Webber from the Anglo-European School, Ingatestone, and Sue Fox, Colchester Development Education consultant, will be offering their perspectives on working with Fairtrade in the classroom.
With Fairtrade Fortnight in March – and Chelmsford’s own declaration as a Faitrade Town (the first in Essex) eagerly awaited – as well as the amazing work already being done in the town’s schools, it does seem like an opportune moment to bring the key players together.
There will of course be plentiful Fairtrade refreshments but it would be useful if you could let us know how many of your team will be attending. Please contact malcolm.Burgess3@btopenworld.com or tel: 01277 263770 for more information.
Many thanks.

October '04 saw Essex-based group AloneMe put on a gig to promote the Make Trade Fair campign at the Cramphorn theatre in Chelmsford. Over 100 happy punters joined the group, along with special guests Graham Good and LD Trinity.
The end result of the gig was over £300 made for Oxfam, and lots of great Publicity in the Essex Chronicle thanks to 'Go' editor Darryl Webber (who also just happens to be a big Fairtrade supporter!)
What the press say about AloneMe...
“this group simply ooze class and talent…”
“…bittersweet acoustic pop…they make it seem easy”
