The Thameside Mummers

The Fabulous Thameside Mummers were formed in 1971 to perform a one-off Christmas play at the Hoy at Anchor Folk Club; they are now one of the few full-time, traditional Mumming sides in the country and their annual performance on Billet Wharf in Old Leigh, Essex has become a local tradition.
As well as many local appearances every year to both entertain and educate the public of our Leigh-on-Sea base, we have performed all over Essex and are a regular feature at the bi-annual Essex History Fair. We have also appeared several times at the international folklore festivals in Whitby and Sidmouth.
We have the quality and the experience to bring a flavour of real traditional entertainment to any event!
