Established in 1939 the Essex Association of Boys Clubs plays a vital role in the physical, mental and spiritual development of youth in the county, through constructive and challenging leisure time activities.

Too often, the attention of today’s young is directed to less worthwhile pursuits such as crime, drugs and alcohol abuse. By building the character and esteem of the youth of the county EABC offers an alternative for young people to avoid these distractions and reach their potential whilst making friends and enjoying life.
Boys’ Clubs exist in some of the most deprived areas of the county and therefore, our work is clearly targeted to disadvantaged young people.
Our approach is still unique in that we strongly believe in activities, sporting, arts and outdoor pursuits etc, as the medium for dealing with current issues facing young people, as opposed to the issue based approach of most youth organisations.
