Writtle United Reformed Church meets for worship in a building situated on the beautiful Green in the heart of this large and attractive village, some three miles from the County Town of Essex. Over the centuries, its members have served both God and the community.
Since 1672 the ancestors of the present Church have been meeting in various places in Writtle and since about 1800 the Church has occupied the present site. The present building forms an attactive feature in the Writtle conservation area and has been there since 1886. In 2002 extensive work was carried out to the building to make it fully accessible to disabled people (including the installation of a hearing loop) and capable of a wide range of internal layouts. For fuller details please see the "Vision for the Future" page.
We are a member Church of the Chelmsford Group of United Reformed Churches and within that Group of a Pastorate comprising North Avenue, Trent Road, Little Waltham and Writtle Churches.
